I was cleaning out some photos in my phone and I had just stumbled upon this. This photo was taken back in 2015 I believe. It was around 4 am in Bangkok Thailand where this little street girl approached my friends and I. She couldn’t have been older than 5-6 years. Out there some parents send their kids out to beg for money / sell stuff to tourist. I think she was trying to sell one of my friends a bracelet but at one point we made eye contact and then she started running over towards me smiling like an old friend I hadn’t seen in forever . I bent down on my knees and opened my arms to her and without any hesitation she jumped in and we started to hug . I’ll never forget the smile on her face and the way her warm energy made me feel. In that moment I felt this crazy connection with her. It made me pretty emotional. At one point my crew who were waiting for me to get In the car told me it was time to go. I got up and started to walk over to the car and before I got in looked back and she was still there smiling. I bent down once again and opened my arms. she ran over a second and we stared hugging again. I told my team “ WE HAVE TO TAKE HER” In this moment I felt a tremendous love but a bit of sadness started to kick in. “It’s 4 AM and she’s on the streets with , we can’t leave her!” I said. My tour manger at the time told me “Sonny we can’t take this girl ,we are in a foreign country. that’s definitely kidnapping!”. During this time we were still hugging but it was time to go. It may have been hardest time I’ve had letting someone go from a hug. I know this isn’t a great photo but I had to share it. It was a simple moment but it had a tremendous impact on me.
