1994 - MEGADETH have just kicked off their world-wide tour in South America. But before travelling to Argentina, from their hometown of Phoenix Arizona, the band took a small detour to Berlin so that they could participate in the historic first ever MTV Europe Music Awards.

Dave Mustaine co-presented the Best Female Artist Award (won by Mariah Carey), with US World Cup soccer hero Alexi Lalas (him of red hair and goatee beard).

After the awards ceremony, the band dashed across the city, and as part of MTV’s Club Tour, played a blistering set at Berlin’s Marquee Club. The club held just 2,000 people, and huge crowds surrounded the venue – forcing the band to come up with an alternative to the traditional method of entering the gig. Enterprising help from locals allowed the band party to access the rear of the venue grounds through a back street, leading into a private courtyard, where they jumped over the dividing 12’ wall!

MEGADETH are due to tour the U.K. in the spring. In the meantime, Parlophone Records release “Train of Consequences”, on the 28th December as the first single from their Top 10 album, YOUTHANASIA.
