Inspired by a rosy applesauce her mother used to make, @emcdowell cooked the recipe down further until it was thicker and smoother, more of an apple butter than an apple sauce. We'd be glad to eat it by the spoonful on its own, but definitely love it even more swirled over Erin's ginger cake as a fruity alternative to the traditional frosting. ?
