Those of you in California have an incredible opportunity to protect hundreds of millions of animals by voting YES on Proposition 12. This law would ban the cruel caging of hens, mother pigs and calves in the state of California, and prevent the sale of food from out of state farms that use these cages. For example, most pork sold in California comes from factory farms using crates that keep mother pigs immobilized for their entire lives, unable to even turn around. We can all agree that this is totally unacceptable. Animals should be protected from suffering and deserve to be able to move freely. Cruelty, suffering or injustice should be addressed, no matter where it’s taking place, and with this law, California can show the rest of the US and the international community that caging animals for their entire lives is cruel and unacceptable. California is a huge economy, so this will have ripple effects across the country and the globe as many of the largest food companies are international. I support positive change for animals all over the world.
