I know this is a weird comparison but not since Rihanna’s ANTI has something shocked me so much w its excellence. I was living in Europe mostly when Sandler’s first comedy wave hit so I really can’t claim bandwagoning the popular stuff (Gilmore/Madison/Waterboy). Actually I might be the only cat who thinks his best work was the serious stuff: #PunchDrunkLove & #ReignOverMe (ok I dug #FunnyPeople, #Spanglish & #TheWeddingSinger too on the tour bus) point is it’s 3:42am on a sad Saturday & im on my 3rd viewing. This is really excellent work. Sets a great bar for what can be done on a comedy special (see also @フレッド・アーミセン’s excellent #StandupForDrummers) this is also @アダム・サンドラー’s best documented work seriously.
