‘Red Square’ comes from Frankenthaler’s alma mater, Bennington College, Vermont, with proceeds from the sale to benefit Art for Access, a new initiative to fund scholarships.⠀

'Helen donated the work to the college in 1959, but was clear that she wanted the work to be out in the world at the right moment', says Dr Mariko Silver, Bennington College President. 'This feels like the right moment.'⠀
