“My first one-on-one workshop experience with my new friend @ベス・ベアーズ was too much fun, work is never work when you love what you’re doing and if you’re with people who lift your spirits and inspire you. Beth owns two Havstad hats and she decided she wanted to come to Oregon to build her third, a 100x Sagebrush dyed, Hues of the High Desert hat with me. From seeing a felt come straight out of the plant dye bath, to the blocking, ironing, pouncing, stamping, sewing and shaping, we built this forever hat of hers together on my vintage equipment, and by hand. I love sharing this trade through these workshop experiences, it’s the connections and people and conversations that happen in the space of this workshop that I love the most. Beth runs a non-profit called @sheherdpower and the work she does is truly inspiring. Whether it be via horsemanship, or building hats, these somatic experiences of getting out of the mind and into the body through work are experiences that heal and bond. A hat is a hat is a hat, until there is meaning and story and life behind it. Thank you @steve_dewey for stopping by and taking some photos of us in action!
