It was also believed that such time is when the dimensional border between the realm of mortals and the realm of the spirits is at its weakest, thus allowing the spirits to cross over to the world of men, roaming freely and looking for bodies to possess. The Celts, therefore, disguised themselves as ghosts, spirits, and monsters in order to trick the fellows from the netherworld to leave them alone. This tradition was passed down to later generations of the Western world, and eventually became one of the most popular festival on a global scale we all know and enjoy.
