Behind the scenes for @therookieabc with @missoneil.... I love that our show is always relevant and address’s real issues. The tents you see in the background have all been placed by our production as a part of our story but we weren’t too far from some real tents that some people had set up outside and were living in.

According to LAHSA - the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority - 2018 marks the first year in four years we have seen a decrease in the homeless population in Los Angeles. LAHSA believes there are a few factors... 2 of them: Los Angeles County voters approved funding for permanent supportive housing and $3.5 billion to address homelessness over the next 10 years. LAHSA reports that people experiencing first-time homelessness is on the rise and half of these neighbours of ours report loss of employment or financial strain as the primary cause. Also, there are approximately 17,258 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) who do not have a permanent home to live in.
“While the findings of LAHSA’s 2018 Homeless Count indicate that we’re moving in the right direction, we must remember that the steps we have taken thus far are small compared to the work ahead.
