Cast in a single unique bronze, Rembrandt Bugatti’s ‘Deux girafe’ is one of the most significant sculptures by the artist to have emerged, after a century in the possession of one family. Conceived in 1906 and cast in 1907, this exceptional sculpture had been absent from public view since 1908 when it was purchased by political leader and historian, Joseph Reinach. The only other example of this form, the plaster cast of the model, was donated by the Bugatti family to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, where it remains to this day.
