Want to use my social media to spread more important messages, Through @captainplanetfdn , my friends & i got the opportunity to learn about huge environmental issues happening on our planet. It’s devastating. We spent our days doing a beach clean up & talking to these inspiring people who’re making a major impact on helping the environment / oceans & educating us on how big of an issue plastic is on these beautiful beaches. At the end of the day we turned some of the trash into amazing art pieces. (The tallest point on this island is a trash landfill) The plastic gets washed up on the beach and sits in the sun & breaks down & animals in the ocean eat it because it gets mixed in to their food therefore placing it in our bodies if we eat the fish etc. Over 100 million marine animals are killed from plastic each year & 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world. Being aware of plastic in your everyday life & try to make a change, thousands and thousands of pounds of plastic fill these beaches. There’s so many things you can do to make an impact. Metal or paper straws, paper or glass cups / plates, bamboo toothbrush, reusable household items, recycle more etc. Also want to thank @pamela_atkins1 & @ryanhattaway for bringing all of this to life. ❤️♻️
