Last night Florida restored voting rights to more than 1 million former felons by passing the Amendment 4 ballot initiative. Amendment 4 automatically reinstates voting rights for people with felony convictions upon completion of their sentences. Those convicted of murder or a felony sexual offense are excluded. Prior to last night's election, Florida was one of only three states with a lifetime voting ban for all people with felony histories. "We've restored humanity back to 1.4 million people. We gave them their voice back," said Coral Nichols, who was previously exempt from voting due to a grand theft and fraud conviction.
