All my friends know about my long-standing, slightly strange obsession with sports movies and documentaries. Strange because I hardly even know the rules to any sports but the culture, the drive and the personal stakes involved are endlessly fascinating to me.
So here are some shots from Monday night’s premiere of an absolutely incredible new @hbosports doc that my dear friend Lizzie Friedman produced called Momentum Generation that I realllllly recommend checking out when it airs next month. I brought my awesome friend, surfer girl @rachelboston and she agrees :) The film is an intimate portrait of the iconic ‘Momentum Generation’ surf crew of the mid 90’s. They are American surfers, some names familiar to us: Kelly Slater, Rob Machado - but the doc also features a dozen other surfers that are thrilling to learn about. They were a raucous group of elite athletes committed to pushing each other to their limits (and beyond) who changed the sport forever
