Refugee actors. Feelings run deep.

Goodwill Ambassador @ベン・スティラー was on hand for a screening of the film Capernaum in New York. Also joining us was director @nadinelabaki and the film's star, Zain al Raffeathe, who like others in the film is a former refugee.

Stiller gave high praise to Zain who drew inspiration from the hardships he endured when he fled Syria. “The lead actor Zain, who’s a young man at just fourteen, is really one of the best actors I’ve ever seen on film. It’s just an amazing performance.”

Capernaum was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and is the Lebanese submission for Foreign Language Oscar.

“The film tells their story in a way that reaches people. What we’re trying to do as Goodwill Ambassadors for The UN Refugee Agency, is tell the human story behind the statistics and not just focus on the numbers.”
