Thank you to all of you who have been reaching out to Pet Supplies Plus, @petsmart and @chowhoundpet about this important issue. ❤️ I finally received a nice note from the Director of Services of @petsuppliesplus , Jay Springer. He said this,“We (Pet Supplies Plus) do not support cats being declawed unless it is deemed medically necessary for the health and well-being of the pet. We are currently in the process of updating our adoption partner guidelines for 2019 and expect that we will be working to phase-out any adoption groups that pro-actively declaw or dock/crop pets they offer for adoption. As a social media influencer and advocate for cat health, we would welcome your participation in this process.”??????????? He told me that these standards will be implemented in January 2019 so this is very good news! ???????? I told him that I’m happy to work with Pet Supplies Plus with this and also want to help them with ideas to have cool sections in their stores to provide cat owners everything they need for their cat’s scratching needs and brochures about why cats need their toes and claws and info about the easy, humane options to declawing. It’s nice to see a big company realize how important it is to truly care about the welfare of all animals by having humane Adoption Partners in their stores, who don’t support or perform declawing and who educate the public about the FACTS about declawing and about the easy, humane options like scratching posts, nail trims, deterrents, Soft Paws, etc. ❤️ Please give a BIG thanks to Pet Supplies Plus and lets be patient and hopefully in a couple months we will be celebrating how they are such an awesome, compassionate company that cares about the quality of the products in their stores AND the welfare of the adoptable kitties who are in their stores! ❤️❤️❤️#makeadifference #PawsNeedClaws #PetSuppliesPlus #BeTheChange I still haven't heard back from ChowHound Pet or PetSmart so please keep trying to get an answer from them. ❤️??
