I’ll never forget when we were trying to figure out who would play the lead role of Celie in “The Color Purple”, with my bro Steven Spielberg, & Alice Walker recommended an actress working up in SF. She was invited to audition for us at the Amblin studios, along with an audience that included Smelly, Richard Pryor, & Ashford & Simpson...She entered the theater from behind the audience, & as soon as she opened her mouth to sing “Around the World in Eighty Mu’f’n Days” we knew she was it because she absolutely tore the house DOWN! Y’awl already know who it is, & today is her birthday, so send her all the love U got! Happy birthday my dear Whoopi…It has been an honor to know you & work with you. \(^o^)/ Sending U all my love & props as always & it was absolutely beautiful to see you in NY for the premiere of QUINCY just a couple of months ago!…xxoo
