Did you know that one of the pioneers of photography was supposedly camera-shy? ?? Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, born on this day in 1787, invented the first photographic process. Each #daguerreotype (as he dubbed his invention) was a one-of-a-kind image on a highly polished, silver-plated sheet of copper. However, Daguerre's own reluctance to be photographed perhaps explains why this image is one of the relatively small number of daguerreotypes that depict him.⁣ #LouisDaguerre
