. First result of my « Copy-Bug-Paste » project. . This silhouette has been realised together with Paulami Sane from NIFT Mumbai. Followed and assisted by @celine_de_schepper and by @michelinevansintjan for the fresh flowered headgear. The concept of the “Copy-Bug-Paste” workshop is as simple as it’s complicated . - I bring 40 pieces of my own design. - One garment of my design is chosen by the student and almost copied (small alterations like length etc. are allowed) to understand the codes, tricks and secrets of the JPL style constructions. - Another garment of my design is patterned then altered by the student to make their very own translation of the creative DNA of the piece. - 40 pieces of traditional Indian garments are present in the workroom. - One traditional Indian garment selected by the student is copied then transformed with their own translation of design inspiration coming from the 2 JPL pieces selected. - Final fabrics of the 3 pieces silhouette is a mix of flower and check patterns coming from both culture. - One head accessory is created mixing worldwide flowered headdress tradition. The bigger the better. - The silhouettes will get its last touch by (a) non fashion ready made object(s) found in the street market of Mumbai. The object(s) must not exceed 500 rupees (5.99 euros). . I thought about this 2 weeks workshop exchange with the goal of merging Indian and Belgian design concepts to get to a new vison of positive cultural appropriation. Because I truly believe that this is what the world is really in need now. Time, live talks, share, no prejudice, take good benefits of each other culture and JOY. #thestorybehindtheprocess #itsallaboutthemix #copybugpaste
