Happy Thanksgiving — ??? I hope you traveled safely, ate a sh*t ton of food and enjoyed time with at least one person that you don’t have to pretend to like. ;) — Okay, cheeky comments out of the way... Here goes my “AnnaLynne Insta-Novel” style caption that @tracewatkins continues to send “cease and desist” texts about. ?

Instagram is that place where we can filter and facetune a flirty pic pretending we didn’t take 432 self-timer photos, and that it was, in fact, “au-naturale!” So I did just that ☝? above ;) - but, here’s my attempt at a bit of balance: I don’t know what your 2018 has been like, but I’m sure there have been days when you didn’t feel your “Insta-Best.”
Today, I’m thankful for my downs. I have had the worst ones of my life this year. I have experienced extreme loss. I have experienced utter devastation. I have endured the immeasurable heartbreak of the inner child in me. I’ve been accused of heartbreaking things by some of those I trusted most in the world. I’ll admit... I have stamped my feet more than once. “It’s not fair.” But I’ll tell you why I am thankful... because I AM STILL HERE. I have seen my strength because I survived being made to feel weak. I have seen my resilience when faced with the returned memory of a lifetime of betrayal. And, I have seen my capacity to love when confronted with absolute fear. I learned that my light is brighter than such fear-based darkness. I learned that my light matters, that I matter. Today, I hope you add one more thing to your gratitude list. I hope you look at the things that have broken your heart, and I hope you thank yourself for continuing to live another day. I, for one, am infinitely proud of you. So to those of you who may not always feel as perfect as an app can make our insta-pics, I am thankful for you. I am thankful that you choose to survive. I’m thankful that you never stop letting your light shine even when others seek to dim it with their fear and hidden pain. You matter! And you matter to me!
