“Girls' rights matter because it means I’m protected from being harmed. It means I’m allowed to get an education, and have some say as to when and who I marry. When a boy is young, his life begins. He make his own decisions and chooses his own friends. After girls have their first period, their lives are hard. They are told not to go to school and must wait to find a husband. But if a girl is educated, she can earn money and get a job. When I am older, I would love to become a teacher because I like helping people learn new things.” Fatima, 12-year-old refugee in Bangladesh.
