The legendary peaks of Peru’s Cordillera Blanca are a slice of the alpine climbing in South America and some of the greatest undiscovered bouldering in the world.
Marmot athletes Pete Takeda and Abbey Smith journeyed up the deep valley of the Quebrada Ultar to explore and taste the potential of out-of-the-way corners of the Andes. Besides exploratory climbing, our trip captured 180 Virtual Reality for an upcoming VR film series called THE IMAGINARY: Big Mountain Bouldering in the Peruvian Andes.
Here Hernan Chinchay Quijano, winner of the “World’s Toughest Porter Race” in Huaraz, Peru runs uphill with a crashpad. He’s sporting a pair of Crocs as footwear. as he cruises uphill at 15,300 feet elevation below Nevado Huascaran.
What started off as a traditional expedition evolved into an adventurous exploration of climbing potential on in a remarkable area.
