Grænavatn is a volcanic crater that was formed around over 6000 years ago. The green colour is caused by a high level of sulphur and it’s depth of 45 meters. If you look closely, you can see how the colour changes by the shoreline where the lake gets deeper.
This amazing lake is located close to Krýsuvík geothermal area and Kleifarvatn, making it a great spot to visit on a Reykjanes-photo by @h0rdur.
