This is just so wrong.
@houstonhumane declaws cats at their Wellness Clinic for the public and also if you adopt a kitty from their shelter.
Their employees say that their are restrictions for the declaw, the cats have to be over 6 months old and you have to do it with a spay/neuter.
Their board member, Dr Cynthia Rigoni does the declaws on Sundays.
When asked if Dr Rigoni is skilled at the declaw the employees says she does them regularly and has her own cat clinic, All Cats Veterinary Clinic - Houston, TX where an employee there says that she does 4-5 declaws a week.
In 1991 a cat came in for just a neuter to All Cats Veterinary Clinic and Dr Rigoni accidentally started declawing it. Dr Rigoni realized her mistake after she amputated the cat's third toe bone but she kept going and declawed both front paws.
The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners investigated and found that she committed gross malpractice and recommended her license to be suspended for two years and pay a $2000 fine.
And HHS still is using her as their Secretary board member and declawing vet.
