Commonly called the "Obelisk", this great stone pillar rises from right below the 2,764m (9,068ft) peak of Mt. Jizogatake. The 20m (65.6ft) tall Obelisk is a symbol of Hoo Sanzan Mountains (Mt. Jizogatake, Mt. Kannon, and Mt. Yakushi). Walter Weston is known as the first person to climb Mt. Jizogatake during Meiji period (1868-1912).
