One of the things I never take for granted as a NYC Theatre Rat; the generation of artists that immediately preceded mine was absolutely decimated by the AIDS crisis. Those that survived were driven with a passion and a fury that to this day leaves me in awe. They taught me why it was so vital that artists be activists, they taught me why you show the fuck up and never settle; because it is such an honor to be working in the theatre. We work for those that didn’t make it. We carry their stories and we carry their legacy. We fight and fight and fight on.
