We were lucky enough to be invited by @briankelly from @thepointsguy to the #TPGAwards last night. It was an honor to watch Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (@captsully) receive the Hero Award and listen to him speak about that day on the Hudson. ✈️

On Thursday 15 January 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 departed New York’s La Guardia airport. There were 150 people onboard, bound for Charlotte, North Carolina.
Very shortly after takeoff, the aircraft lost all engines after it struck a flock of geese.
After quickly assessing the situation, Captain ‘Sully’ Sullenberger realised that without engine power, they weren’t going to make it to any nearby airport.
In what has been described as “the most successful ditching in aviation history”, Captain Sully executed a textbook landing of the aircraft into the Hudson river and saved the lives of everyone on board.
The accident came to be known as “The Miracle on the Hudson”, and Captain Sully heralded a modern-day hero. Yes, not all superheroes wear capes. ✈️
