tonight I heard from an old friend
wide open heart smiles
and a fond message to send
winding road went on for miles
with a bond that will never end
reminded me how and when
she made me feel way back when

a whirlwind rush of intrigue
the girl you crush on
but is out of your league

we just couldn't be told
but never ones to judge
bitch brassy and bold
yet you can't hold a grudge

like mind of a colorful feather
one of a kind friend through foul weather

created a scene
but can't stay mad
before she hit the screen
she was better than bad
the times in between...queen
they were times to be had

never some slack jaw tragic statistic
too raw and too magic to be realistic

forever the same yet known to perform
no shame in her game this is her norm

we made some grave errors
we flipped a few lids
we braved a few terrors
and even hit the skids
yet we raise each others hopes
as we raise our kids

as I reflect...I swear
to show respect...and give care
