Carcidio, 16, is in 10th grade and a member of a UNICEF-supported student-led club that promotes mutual respect and dignity. Carcidio had a difficult upbringing, he witnessed domestic violence between his parents. On one occasion, his dad chased his mum out of their home in front of him. This incident had a huge effect on Carcidio. He would often cry at home and at school. While he was in primary school, he was also targeted by bullies. One day, he decided to stand up against the bully which led to a big fight that landed both of them in the principal’s office. The principal gave them the opportunity to talk and Carcidio learned that his bully was also facing a similar problem at home.
