The weaving is done by the last remaining leper colony in India (started by Ghandi). The leather is repurposed from giant fashion companies who have over-ordered and prevent it from entering a landfill. It allows them to keep from adding to the waste and unethical practices plaguing the industry, while still sourcing high grade, high quality leather!
The non-profit JoyCorps supports development programs that move the community toward long-term sustainability. Local leaders are identified and trained to help carry out programs while growing their businesses. The goal is not to give a temporary handout, but to move the community toward real transformation and the local businesses toward long-term sustainability. Until they can run it on their own!
