#SpeakingInDance | “This is a sprint,” said the @nycballet principal @dpulbricht. “It’s truly a 100-yard dash of choreography, and it’s not so much about just having the fastest time. It’s the way you move that makes it exciting. The minute the foot lands, it springs to the next step.” This season, Daniel celebrates his 19th year performing the Candy Cane solo in “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.” As he sees it, the hoop that he winds in and out of is an extension of his body. Before he steps onstage, he bounces around a little to get his blood moving, but not enough to become tired. “It literally feels like ‘The Flintstones’ when you’re running out” – with legs like propellers – “because you’re just trying to get your feet underneath you,” he told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ writer @giadk. “Having done it this long is kind of amazing. It’s not a matter of getting through it. It’s like, What can I get out of it this time?” @angelo_vasta made this video for #SpeakingInDance, our weekly series exploring the world of #dance.
