A recent study by the University of Pennsylvania has found a direct causal link between social media use and loneliness and depression. Namely, the less social media you use, the less lonely and depressed you are. "It is ironic, but perhaps not surprising, that reducing social media, which promised to help us connect with others, actually helps people feel less lonely and depressed," the study reads.
