As another year comes to an end, it’s that time again when most of us pause to reflect on what a crazy ride it has been. Oh 2018, where do I even begin? So much has happened that sometimes I find it hard to believe that it’s only been one year! 2018 has brought me love, pain, blessings, lessons, realizations, marriage(!), fun, reconciliation, appreciation, and just too many things to mention. This year, I’ve had time to rewire and get to know myself again, and I’m so grateful to have had the room to grow in ways I never knew I needed; to once again see what I’ve been overlooking and brushing to the side. It has been a year of intense highs and lows, with the good still outweighing all the bad. I guess it really just depends on what you choose to focus on. I’ve learned to accept that there will never be a perfectly good year, as much as there will never be a year that’s completely dark. It gives us something to look forward to; something to hope for and work towards, and maybe even something to change or improve along the way. All in all, it’s just another chance to begin again and move forward with more than what we started with. This year, God has taught me to value both setbacks and victories; both trials and stillness. He’s taught me to find joy and peace even in the midst of turbulence, because that’s when you know you really do have it. One important thing I’ve learned to hold on to is HOPE. I realize now how much I’d been struggling with that by looking ahead in fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Getting used to that kind of anticipation is like constantly setting yourself up for failure before you even get to take a step forward. It has taken me this entire year to truly absorb the fact that God does have such wonderful plans, and the only thing that has been standing in my way is myself. Sometimes, we are our own Goliath. But hey, there’s a David in all of us. So here’s to another wonderful, albeit imperfect, year ahead of us! Here’s to all the battles we will win, from the ones around us to the ones inside us. GOD WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED. GOD WANTS YOU TO WIN. AND YOU WILL, BECAUSE GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE. Never let anything convince you otherwise. ?
