Michael returned to the recording studio to create BAD in January, 1987. It was during the recording of this album that Michael started a new tradition of “Family Night” each Friday in the studio, where he had his cooks make dinner for the whole studio crew. Engineer Bruce Swedien remembers: “It was incredible. That tradition that Michael started made us feel like a real family. The same tradition continued through the recording of Dangerous and HIStory, Book I.”
