Nozawa Onsen Dosoujin Matsuri―One of Japan’s Top Three Fire Festivals

The Dosoujin Matsuri, often called the Nozawa Fire Festival in English, is celebrated annually in January. A shrine is built out of beech trees and set aflame as a cleansing ritual. The truly large scale of the fire festival earned it its place as one of Japan’s top three.

Once again, Nozawa will perform its yearly cleansing ritual and wrap the night in fire and zeal.
