French novelist, Gustave Flaubert once wrote, “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” At the center of a crystalline lake, surrounded by the lush hills and forests, lies the small island of Bled. The miniature piece of picturesque land was previously home to a temple dedicated to Živa, the ancient Slavic goddess of love, and now houses a gothic church amongst its dense greenery.
