Today marks 1 year since @Bayouwithlove launched our first recycled gold jewelry line in collaboration with @Dell . For those new to this story, the collection was born from a desire to demonstrate the beauty in what many see as waste. We wanted you all to know about all the precious materials- gold, silver, plastics, metals- that are in your electronics, and the importance of rethinking, redesigning, reusing, and recycling. Less than 15 percent of electronics get recycled globally. That’s unacceptable. And we all have a role to play in ensuring our insatiable appetite for the latest gadgets does not clutter landfills and pollute communities. We can turn your trash into beautiful products. I can make you an ethical, sustainable wedding ring. Dell can use it in new technology. The @Dell team is at @CES this week talking about their latest technologies and product enhancements. They’re also there announcing some impressive milestones that you all helped make possible. They achieved their 2020 goal of collecting 2 billion pounds of used electronics for recycling, and they’ll hit their goal of using 100 million pounds of recycled materials in their product by Earth Day.
