Dame #BarbaraHepworth, one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century, was born #onthisday in 1903.

Here she is in 1963 carving the interior of Hollow Form with White in her Palais studio. As with all her work, the structure and rhythm of the sculpture demonstrates the artist's instinctive feel for her material. The second image is taken at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden in St Ives, where a number of the artist’s sculptures, drawings and archival materials are on display in what was her home and studio.
