With Nationals being this week, it’s brought back a lot of amazing memories. Some of my best and favorite times has been competing at nationals. Nothing will ever compare to skating in front of a Canadian crowd. I remember winning my first junior nationals in juvenile; Winning Novice in front of my Alberta friends; Landing my first 3+3 in Moncton to qualify for Junior Worlds; Winning my first National title in Mississauga qualifying for Worlds; Then qualifying for the Olympics a year later! Nationals often meant more to me than any other competition of the year. It wasn’t always perfect, there was some upsets, but It was always something special. I cannot forget the friends I’ve built through skating that meet every year at whatever city it’s held at. It felt like a homecoming every time. ... With not competing this year, I couldn’t miss out on what that feeling is like. Best of luck to everyone competing, make memories, I’ll be there volunteering.
