Wow @leochrista this really touched all of us at @hudabeauty Thank you so much for sharing your story, it’s so inspiring! It’s so important for people to be open about the struggles that everyone faces. What’s funny about the world of social media is that it’s always the good side that is portrayed and very rarely do we see some of the more serious struggles that can happen when you do become an influencer. Beauty is an amazing thing that should be about uplifting and empowering for everyone, but I do feel that in the last year the beauty industry took a turn towards the negative and it’s really time for a change. We need to go back to uplifting others and not bringing them down. Positivity breeds positivity. I’ve always loved this story about Winston Churchill where a young boy named Alexander Fleming saved him from drowning in the river. Churchill’s parents paid for Alex’s medical education in order to thank him for saving his sons life. Fleming went on to discover Penicillin and when Churchill was later diagnosed with pneumonia it was Penicillin that saved him. It’s a pretty perfect story to show that what goes around comes back around and we should all do our best to spread love & kindness at all times. However, the depression I felt came with guilt. I didn’t want to take someone else’s place when I was incapable of creating content. I didn’t want to film, I didn’t want to do anything but I also didn’t want to be selfish. Most brands gave the typical “thanks for letting us know, all the best”. But @hudabeauty team response proved to me that it’s not just a business but a brand run by a family. Daisy was so kind & tailored to me, I even got a follow up email seeing how I was doing and the PR package from @hudabeauty team didn’t stop. Making each package feel like my bday & giving me the encouragement to get better! I am an overcomer!
