As many of you know, we are always looking for companies to add to our list of humane companies who truly care about the welfare of all animals. I'm sad to say that @petsmartcharities , @petsuppliesplus , and @chowhoundpet use some Adoption Partners who condone and perform declawing.? In December, we tried to inspire all 3 them to do the right thing and only use Adoption Partners who truly care about the welfare of cats and who educate the public about declawing and about the easy humane options. Many of you also helped with this campaign by respectfully reaching out to these 3 companies, and we thank you for that. . The GReAT news is that Pet Supplies Plus told us that they plan to implement new standards for their adoption partners THIS MONTH and phase-out any adoption groups that pro-actively declaw or dock/crop dogs. ??❤️ please thank them!!! . ChowHound Pet told us that they are reviewing all of their policies regarding cat adoptions for 2019 but they don't have a time frame for the reviews. ? . PetSmart told us, "Each Adoption Partner has its own separate adoption policy which may or may not include declawing. If you would like additional information about a specific Adoption Partner, we encourage you to reach out to the group directly. "??? Today I reached out to Chowhound and PetSmart once again and asked them if they will do the right thing and only use shelters/rescues who do not condone and perform declawing. Time is of the essence. Cats are unnecessarily having their toe bones and claws barbarically amputated and we need these companies to be part of the solution to help us end this cat cruelty. I'm excited to hear back from Pet Supplies Plus hopefully soon, so we can make the announcement about their new Adoption Partner policy! ?????? . Let's hope Chowhound Pet and PetSmart do the same!
