The engineer Theodor Kovacs develops a ground-breaking fountain pen with a differential piston mechanism. Pelikan's owner Fritz Beindorff recognizes the significance of the invention, and purchases the patent in 1927. Just one year later the first Pelikan fountain pen with patented piston mechanism goes into series production.
