H o n o r T i m i n g . Three or four years ago, probably thanks to my burn out, I started to feel that something was off inside me. . I was still unaware of what was going on, I just knew that if I kept going, something inside me would die. . Well. In today’s culture we often talk about “epiphanies” and “life changing moments”, describe a new belief, diet, supplement, drug as a source of profound change, as if change and self discovery could happen in just a moment. . I did think that too. I had this kind of magical thinking that something or someone would happen and save me and... Do the work for me. Wrong, of course. What I call my burn out happened more than three years ago and only now am I starting to feel some true change. . In the mean time, I did a ton of therapy, saw shamans, healers, started new practices, dropped them, made so many mistakes, felt discouraged, let people think I was a bit crazy, had no idea where I was going and what was so wrong with me. There were so many moments when I would be like yesssss this is it, I got it!!! Only to get back to painfully normal a few days later. . And I finally learned there are no short cuts. The journey is the bloody way. I even learned to make peace with pain and embrace it. . So, yes, our Chile retreat changed our lives. Yes, yoga, meditation changed my life. Yes, a few people changed my life. But they are just beautiful (or painful?) moments on a life journey. . It truly made me believe in the genius of trusting and letting ourselves lean softly in the arms of life. Things happen at the right time. People show up when you’re ready. We never get “there”. My timing is slow. I am a late bloomer. I need to learn by experience. Books are great, but to me, they are not enough. I need to honor the timing. So now, I am done with forcing things. Omg DONE!!! ? . And I am practicing not to wait while I am waiting - but to cultivate and live fully every moment. And it’s really hard, but the answer is: practice. If what you’re waiting for is not happening yet it is because, probably, something else needs your attention. . Maybe yourself? . I know that was (is?) my - very humbling - case.
