Yes! So glad Mike Mussina made the cut for this year’s Baseball Hall of Fame class. My fingers were crossed for Moose because everything I had seen said the vote would be right on the bubble, but the baseball writers came to the right conclusion.

Moose is definitely worthy of a spot in Cooperstown. Facing him as an opponent while I was with Seattle and Texas, he was one of the most difficult at-bats for me every time. The combination of his five pitches – fastball, cutter, knuckle curve, slider and his signature 68 mph change-up – made him almost unhittable.

When I came to the Yankees in 2004 he was a terrific teammate. He was always supportive and I especially remember the times when I was struggling and he would wander over to third base to talk to me. Some of the best hitting advice I ever received came from a guy I couldn’t hit against. ? He said: “Rod, short and sweet. All the extra movement is a waste of energy.” #truestory

He was as steady as they come. 270 wins over 18 seasons. He won 20 games once … at age 39. He retired at the end of the season. He was the first to do that since the great Sandy Koufax. Amazing.
