Hace dos años, Alfonso Cuarón realizó un casting en Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, ciudad natal de Yalitza. Su hermana mayor, Edith, le insistió que audicionara aunque no tuviera previa experiencia actoral. Yalitza estaba en el proceso de convertirse en maestra. Después de haber obtenido el papel protagónico en “Roma” y de dar una de las actuaciones más asombrosas que he visto, se ha convertido en una artista y actriz nominada al Óscar.
