Photo by @Joel Sartore | Last year, Romeo, the last Sehuencas Water Frog, swam into the hearts of people around the world when @museodorbigny @centro_kayra teamed up with @global_wildlife_conservation to launch a campaign to find a mate for the world’s loneliest frog. Collected in 2008 to save him from a potentially deadly pathogen, scientists had repeatedly tried and failed to find another individual to start a conservation breeding program to save the species. The innovative campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day, included partnering with the dating site Match to create a profile for Romeo and raised enough support to send teams back into the field, where they recently beat the odds to find a mate for Romeo, along with four other individuals.
