I was feeling very beautiful & quite proud of my body and the progress I had made when I took these photos. So I did just that, I took photos commemorating myself and this feeling, because to be honest with you, I don’t often feel this way about myself. Believe what you may, but I spent the better part of two decades despising myself and punishing the girl I saw in the mirror every single day for not being good enough. For not being beautiful, or sexy, or worthy enough to live. My self-image issues were deeply ingrained before selfies were even a term. I learned to hate myself around the same time I learned my ABC’s. It took most of my life to learn to love myself and forgive myself for my short-comings and it’s a battle I continue to fight every single day. So yes, these are some selfies I took, because in this moment, I felt beautiful. & if my acceptance and self-love offends you, I wish I could say I’m sorry...but, finally, after all this time... I’m not.
