??✂️?...Recently I’ve been wanting to throw some slightly different photos into my feed and yesterday I felt inspired by how Barbora @herinternest shows her daily outfits in her Stories...not because she’s sponsored but because she wants to, and often she wears items which have been thrifted or which she has made... So, here goes:
My first #homemade ‘outfit’ post!! ———————————————————-
I made this red dress and green top about 16 years ago...( I then went into a big navy blue and black clothing phase at a difficult point in my life ). I tried to sell both things I’m wearing here at various car boot sales over the years. No one ever bought them. They just ended up in the loft. However, I am SO glad I didn’t throw them away!!...I think my homemade clothes always felt more like some sort of expression, rather than just something to wear, and they are now out of the loft and inspiring me to get back into making more. I am no expert seamstress by any means, and my homemade efforts are rarely neat, but it does mean I get to wear loads of fabrics and colours I really want to...This dress is made with a bit of cotton gingham but mostly from Irish linen, a fabric often well out of my price range in clothes shops. The top is a secondhand jumper I cut up into this shape which I then added vintage buttons to. I designed and printed the silk neck tie last year, the beret was from some inexpensive high street shop and the tights were from a supermarket. The most expensive things are the shoes from @グレンソン, ( I have never been able to resist good shoes, especially brogues), I added the red laces... Would love to hear if there are any more clothes makers like me out there, either lapsed or currently creating?? ✂️
