So I guess you're all wondering what's up! On Tuesday morning I took Stalin to his appointment at the vet's for a regular dental examination. As he woke up from the anesthetics, he suffered an epileptic seizure, and when that was dealt with he struggled with disorientation, bumping into things, falling over, being unable to jump up on surfaces etc. Apparently he needs an abnormal amount of time to wake up from anesthetics, so he was kept at the vet's during the night, and was examined again Wednesday morning. The vet then suggested I get an MRI scan, as his symptoms were consistent with something neurological. He was still acting a bit weird when I picked him up on Wednesday evening to take him to the MRI, and because he reacts so strangely to anesthetics, the MRI that was meant to take 45 minutes took 2,5 hour. He got an extra dosage of whatever it is they give him to wake up, as he didn't respond to the first shot. Slowly but surely he woke up in my lap, and was terribly confused and disoriented. I took him home around 1AM, and stayed up with him all night to make sure he was all right. He was desperate to lie down in my lap, and slept so heavily that he scared me a couple of times, but he woke up a little when he could finally eat again, and he had a really good appetite. He was still acting drugged at 7AM this morning when I needed to leave the house, so I left him with the vet for the day so someone could keep an eye on him while I was gone, just in case. He's doing much, much better, and there's no indication he'll have a new seizure for now. The MRI was inconclusive though, so we're still not sure what exactly is wrong with him, but my vet is collaborating with some colleagues and specialists for the next few days to make a plan for what he could have and how to test it. We'll talk about this again next week, but at least cancer and other terrible diseases are ruled out atm ? Thanks for all your love and concern! ? P.S. the picture was taken by my awesome roomie @zu._.zana who was kind enough to join me going to the MRI, and always ready to pick Stalin up from the vet for me if needed. Thank you ❤️?
