This is sickening and everyone needs to be aware that hate is alive and real and happening all around and to people at all times. He was called racial slurs, he was doused with chemicals, they put a noose around his neck after beating him and yelled out “MAGA.” How can you read this and not be terrified? It was a black hate crime. It was a gay hate crime. Period. The conversations about this need to happen in communities that aren’t your own, people need to know that an innocent man was attacked because of evil and willful ignorance. #blacklivesmatter (and if you say that white lives matter or all lives matter (I’m not making those #s ?) then someone needs to explain the world to you because you’ve missed the message) and #gaylives matter and them doing this horrific act and yelling “MAGA” at him... As if a handful of white men wished it into existence and it was perfect at one point in the past... as if America’s greatness wasn’t built on the backs of everyone- of every immigrant, Native American, slave, of every religion- of all of us and our ancestors trying to make it great, not AGAIN, but for the future, for the hope of a better tomorrow... Is antithetical to our beliefs as a people. This isn’t just a black issue or a gay issue that only affects “them”- them is us. We are them. We are humans sharing a community and a country. This is a human rights issue and those of us safe (for now) should stand with our fellow humans and protect them against pure evil. “We don’t have the facts yet.” So... a shooting in a synagogue? A mass shooting? Lynching? Attacking a Muslim business- those are all isolated incidents with proof and you’re saying you’re angry (maybe you are complicit?) for those but not this? So you are opposed to hate crimes in actuality but not the story of a hate crime? Even if it was fabricated, which I doubt, the elements of this are real and do happen. So before you try to poke a logic hole in this, just remember these things aren’t happening in a vacuum. ?
