Dusty, tired and disoriented. This boy is facing a 300km journey through the bitter cold of the Syrian desert. Violence, displacement and extremely harsh conditions have killed at least 32 children since December and forced thousands to flee from their homes to the relative safety of a faraway camp. They arrive utterly exhausted but UNICEF is there to meet them with medical treatment, winter clothing and thermal blankets. We're providing safe spaces for children to recover and helping to reunite those who have been separated from their families in the chaos. And we're appealing to all parties to keep children out of harm's way. There are no excuses: children are not and must never be targets of war.
